Now that I’m back from an insanely productive two-week residency at the MacDowell Colony last month, I’ll tell you what’s coming next with me:
- I’m hard at work on my next YA novel, a ghost story called The Walls Around Us, which is forthcoming from my new publisher, Algonquin Books, in Spring 2015.
- It looks like 17 & Gone will be available in paperback on March 6, 2014.
- If you would like to take a writing class with me, I’ll be leading a YA novel workshop and retreat called Djerassi Writes for a week in February 2014 at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program, an artists’ colony in Woodside, California. Space is limited, but there is still time to apply! Applications are due October 18.
- The ANZ editions of 17 & Gone—published by Hardie Grant in Australia and New Zealand as Seventeen & Gone—arrived on my doorstop, and wow, are they gorgeous. I’ll need to hold a giveaway soon to share these. If you’re in Australia or New Zealand, I hope you’ll buy a copy!
- And if you are a writer and considering the “Your Novel Year” certification program at the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at Arizona State University, I will be one of the YA mentors.
- Finally, if you’ll be attending the 2014 AWP conference in Seattle, I’ll be there, presenting on a panel about writing YA and middle-grade novels with authors Stephanie Kuehnert, Micol Ostow, Laurel Snyder, and Sara Zarr.
